“DETH KITZCH IS NOTED for his laser-like speed with a blaster,” barked Gen Binski as they unloaded the shipment of Monlan motor parts in Kasa Door. The pudgy man eyed Tal with a hard look. “He’s getting up there as the number one deadliest man with a gun.”

Tal stared at Binski as he maneuvered the unloading cart around the off loading area. Binski was skilled at getting ships unloaded and off planet in short order. Most pilots liked the short pudgy dude and endured his monopolizing conversations.

“Not many would be foolish enough to take Kitzch on straight up. Yes indeed, Deth Kitzch has a wicked reputation.”

“How does a punk merchantman get to be a deadly hired gun?” Tal snarled.

Gen Binski paused and gave Tal a hard look. “Punk merchantman? You serious?”

“He went to the Merchant Academy when I was going there.” Tal tossed back. “He’s basically responsible for getting me expelled.”

Pulling a rag from his back pocket, Gen proceeded to wipe the sweat from his brow. “You don’t say? I would certainly steer clear of this guy if I were you. The body count is now up to fifty-four as of yesterday.” He gave Tal a hard stare. “He’ll have to deal with Zor Ravenstaak at some point in his career. Ravenstaak has sixty-seven kills to date.”

A wicked grin slipped across Tal’s face. “I have it from a reliable source that Deth Kitzch was here on Benensaws a few years ago. Killed a couple of ore luggers one night.”

Gen paused, leaning back against his loader. “I heard he had a hangout over in Eirkon. But those were just whispered rumors that I pay little attention to, for the most part.” He paused again, scrunching his eyes tight as if trying to remember something. Finally, “Seems I do remember hearing about a couple of killings over in Eirkon some years back. Didn’t know it was Kitzch, though.” He gave a weak smile. “Probably hard to keep tabs on those notches he’s putting on his blaster. That’s the reason he’ll face Ravenstaak sooner or later, mark my word.”

“Perhaps you’re right, Gen. Perhaps you’re right.”

Nothing more was said as Gen finished the unloading and finalized Tal’s ship invoices. As he handed them back, he gave a weak smile. “Hear that Kitzch has gone to Irolth. Might have a few more notches in his gun before he leaves there. Who knows.”

Tal never came back to Benensaws. He wondered whatever happened to Tenna.
